A devastating tragedy occurred in Laval, Quebec, on Wednesday morning when a city bus crashed into a daycare center. The result was the loss of two young children and serious injuries to at least six others. Emergency services transported eight people to hospitals, with some in critical condition. Although six of the children have since been declared out of danger, the shock and grief of the families and the community continues.
The driver of the bus, an employee of the Société de transport de Laval (STL), was arrested and is facing charges of homicide and dangerous driving. Police are treating the crash as a crime scene and have not ruled out the possibility of it being a deliberate act. Parents of the children at the daycare and witnesses at the scene were left in shock and disbelief. The driver was reported to have come out of the bus in a state of crisis and caused difficulties for the police to control the situation.
